You’d think that choosing the President of the United States would be a choice of the American people but its not and hasn’t been since 1787. In the United States, a convoluted and conscripted process has played out called the Electoral College. It sets aside the popular vote method used in every other single election, and instead plays a shell game with individual votes, lumps them together, and allows a small group of people, without our consent, to choose, every 4 years, who will lead our country.
Three primary reasons were given why the American people cannot be allowed to choose for themselves, based on 1787 logic:
- Voters lack the resources to be “fully informed” about the candidates (we are too dumb)
- A fear of the “democratic mob” steering the country astray (we are sheep)
- A populace candidate appealing directly to the people could command a dangerous amount of power (a candidate who cannot be manipulated and controlled)
Freedom is choice
The right to choose is the quintessential freedom offered to the American people. Paid for with the blood of our mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. Over the year, fundamental freedoms like this have been stripped, diluted, and just straight up taken from us in the name of “national security”. The American people have been conditioned to accept the mainstream narrative that has most people FALSELY believing, despite over 50 people who have thrown their hat into the ring for POTUS, we are told only two choices matter, even when the clear winner in some of these races is “none of the above”.
In 2020 we, the Green Party of Alaska, made a fateful decision to allow the people of Alaska to choose their own path and, amongst all the major players, Jesse Ventura was overwhelmingly selected as the best person for the Job with former Georgia representative, Cynthia McKinney as his running mate. The national party wanted us, the party, to make the choice for the people and support the lackluster candidate, Howie Hawkins. When that failed, our own national party attacked and ultimately “disenfranchised” us from a party we belonged to before the national party was even formed. In 2024, the national party again are attempting to subvert the will and rights of the people by forming an “Aurora Party” and over 6 months before the Green National Convention, forced Cornell West on the ballot in Alaska.
We Believe The Choice is Yours
As we did in 2020, we do not accept a forced narrative and reject any efforts of a party or any group to constrict the choices of the people of Alaska, and by extension, the people of America. For the last two years we have been quietly working with other parties exercised from the Green Party of the US, environmental and social groups to rally the greens in the nation under a banner of a Green Renaissance. Through a series of direct positive actions that empower people and drive investments into the self reliance of local living economies, we are seeking to restore honor and purpose to the Green National Federation, and give some hope to the planet that good people are fighting for her. One of those actions are to host a series of open POTUS forums to give the people of this nation a chance to learn about the other candidates and for them to decide who will come back in round two and finally selected for round three.
